As a worldwide leader in manufacturing car wash systems, Magic Wand is an excellent judge of product performance, The decision to install Thermo-Cyclers at the company's new facility has saved Magic Wand on winter heating bills -- while heating twice as much space as the previous system.

Magic Wand cleaned up on installation savings as well- "The piping, plumbing and labor for a hanging gas heater system would have cost twice as much to install," President Bill Daugherty said.

The energy savings were amazing to Daugherty. "We were astonished at the incredible savings. In December of 1995, our heat bill was $986. This year with twice the square footage and higher eave height the bill was $383 with very similar tem peratures.

The energy efficient Thermo Rotation principle and product design have Magic Wand feeling confident about its two-unit heating system. Daugherty points out the design in fact has something in common with his own product. "We haven't had any trouble (with the system), he said. "It's just so simple. Our heaters for car washes are the same principle."

Some initial homework during the purchasing process really paid off for Magic Wand. Daugherty initially learned of Thermo-Cycler through Randall Fisher Construction in Cleveland, TN. He was then looking at the Thermo-Cycler product literature and read that a vendor of his, Carolina Steel, had used Thermo-Cyclers was very satisfied with its Thermo-Cycler system. Daugherty, at that time planning a 43,000 square-foot addition, knew his vendor "would steer us right." After talking with Carolina Steel, he recommended ThermoCycler to his contractor.

The contractor, who had not heard of Thermo-Cycler, was planning on installing 18 hanging gas heaters. After some convincing by Daugherty, the skeptical contractor installed the Thermo-Cycilers. Today, he's as big a believer in Thermo-Cycler as Daugherty himself. "We're working on another project using one (a Thermo Cycler) right now," said contractor John Kite of J.A. Kite Company in Bristol, TN.

Magic Wand also plans on adding another Thermo-Cycler in fall of 1997, to replace the gas system in another facility. This time, the purchasing decision-making will be much simpler!
